The album, entitled "Escape Artist", marks the end of a 3 year cycle since the release of their debut, "Mad Man Circus", a period that saw the band tour Romania and Europe, where, among others, they've been noted as a revelation at the progressive metal festival ProgPower Europe (Baarlo, NED, 2011).
With the album's 13 tracks, White Walls takes us on a conceptual journey, for which the band broke new ground, both composition and recording wise. The material was recorded in three major studios: Next Dog Studio (Bucharest), Luna Recording Studio (Cluj-Napoca, with Oliver Vegh tracking vocals), and NoCity Studio (Bucharest).
The team involved in bringing "Escape Artist" to life stays mostly unchanged. Marius Costache (http://www.mariuscostache.ro) is the recording and mixing engineer (same as "Mad Man Circus"), while mastering was taken over by Mr. Alan Douches (http://www.westwestsidemusic.com), known for his work with highly acclaimed metal bands such as Killswitch Engage, Mastodon, Kvelertak, Sepultura or The Black Dahlia Murder. Also part of the team, the band's manager, Mihnea Ioan Grecu (XLab Solutions), White Walls' "fifth member", offering his unconditional support.
Eugen Brudaru (vocals) had this to say about the album's concept: "Escape Artist symbolizes a sort of getaway from the real world into an imaginary one, where everything is possible. The artist takes shelter in the act of creation. But each time, human nature reveals a dark side to one's imagination. Each track represents a part of the journey experienced by the artist, a bipolar dreamer, someone who goes seamlessly from ecstasy to agony, from calm to despair. The album is a journey to the core of the deepest thoughts, a struggle with the monsters summoned by one's
self."
The album's artwork is signed by Costin Chioreanu (Twilight13Media), whose talent and imagination embelish the band's creation just as they did with "Mad Man Circus".
