Bong-Ra a semnat cu Debemur Morti Productions si va promova noul album la SoundArt Festival 2025

Fondata la mijlocul anilor 1990, trupa BONG-RA, mereu neconventionala, este proiectul de baza al lui Jason Köhnen (THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET, THE KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE, CELESTIAL SEASON). Dupa debutul revolutionar din 1998, New Millennium Dreadz, BONG-RA si-a consolidat rapid statutul de pionier al stilului Breakcore, o forma extrema a muzicii electronice care ofera un atac ritmic necrutator, sfidand toate normele.

In ultimii 25 de ani, BONG-RA a creat un catalog divers de lucrari constant provocatoare si experimentale, au avut turnee la nivel global si au participat la unele dintre cele mai prestigioase festivaluri din lume, cum ar fi Glastonbury, Lowlands, Dour si multe altele.

Dupa o scurta pauza, BONG-RA revine pentru a explora si extinde originile sale Metal. Pentru aceasta evolutie, BONG-RA a urmat cealalta entitate muzicala a lui Jason Köhnen, THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET, si a semnat cu Debemur Morti Productions, iar un nou album va fi lansat in 2025. Acesta poarta titlul Black Noise.


Trupa va urca pe scena clubului Quantic in cadrul SoundArt Festival 2025 alaturi de alte trupe precum Villagers of Ioannina City (Grecia), The Answer Lies in The Black Void (Ungaria, Olanda) si Hypnosaur (Polonia).

Köhnen reflecta asupra directiei BONG-RA:
I guess you can see it as a circle/cycle completing itself. The BONG-RA project has always been deeply rooted in Metal and was basically an electronic interpretation of Grindcore if you look at the polyrhythmic electronic beats. It definitely has the same energy, rawness and rebellion as Metal. My early roots were partly coming from Grindcore, as is also noticeable in the "Black/White" release of THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET. BONG-RA had more Industrial and Death Metal influences: SCORN, GODFLESH, GGFH, PITCH SHIFTER, FALL OF BECAUSE and so forth. The gradual shift with BONG-RA from electronics to Metal started around 2018 when the more Doomjazz album "Antediluvian" was recorded and "Meditations" later received praising reviews for this style. With the forthcoming "Black Noise" album the shift has gone more towards the glitch mechanical electronics, and the Doomjazz style transformed into THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET sound, thus completing this circle. Its the first album with this specific style, but I am pretty sure old and new BONG-RA listeners should enjoy the rawness.

In continuare, BONG-RA va canta live ca un trio, alaturi de chitaristii Attila Kovacs si Botond Fogl pentru a oferi o energie Metal autentica si bruta pe scena.

Jason detaliaza:
Attila and Botond are band-members in the Doom Metal band which I have with my wife (Martina Hórvath) called THE ANSWER LIES IN THE BLACK VOID. Attila and Botond are the amazing guitarists in this band, and it was a no-brainer to have them be part of the new version of BONG-RA. But they are only part of the live shows, the composing is still a one-man operation.

SoundArt Festival se intoarce cu cea mai ambitioasa si complexa editie din existenta sa. In 2025, SoundArt se intinde pe perioada 10 – 16 martie si are loc in multiple locatii. Bineinteles, inima festivalului ramane in Quantic Club, partenerul de la inceputurile festivalului, unde vor avea loc concerte pe 14 si 15 martie cu primele trupe anuntate printre care se numara Villagers of Ioannina City (Grecia), Bong-Ra (Olanda), The Answer Lies in The Black Void (Ungaria, Olanda) si Hypnosaur (Polonia).

Mai multe trupe, locatii si activitati vor fi dezvaluite in urmatoarea perioada.

Festivalul aduce publicului o expozitie care se va deschide din prima zi si se va inchide in ultima, alte activitati culturale pe 12 si 16 martie. De asemenea alte concerte se vor tine in inca doua locatii partenere ale festivalului.

Organizatorii au elaborat intreaga experienta SoundArt Festival 2025 in jurul conceptului alchemic Magnum Opus. Publicul participant se va alatura unui itinerariu initiatic ce va strabate intreaga suita de activitati si concerte ale editiei, reconstituind gradual etapele Marii Lucrari a transmutatiei sinelui.
